The fight
A single phase. Same style as the Chapter 1 frog, with lightning on top: electric tadpoles, a charged tongue and lightning raining down across the arena.
One set: Shock is there from start to finish.
Spells, transformation and soaks are set at a Keeper's Shrine, never mid-fight: what you bring into a fight stays until the end. One spell per category: Cloud Step and Rock Solid exclude each other, pick one before the fight.
What it inflicts
- Shock: electric tadpoles and projectiles, an electrified tongue, a rain of lightning. While shocked, you take more damage.
Attacks to watch
- Electric tadpoles: his throat swells with energy, then he spits them in an arc or spins them around himself before launching; keep your distance and dodge as they arrive.
- Lightning rain: a loud croak and marks on the ground; run around the arena or wait it out perched in Pillar Stance.
- Tongue grab: a small hop, a step back, then the tongue lashes at you; heavy damage. Pillar Stance doesn't avoid it, Immobilize interrupts it.
- Straight tongue thrust when you are far away: dodge sideways, never backward.
What works
- Immobilize right away, then a combo: he has little health. Immobilize
- Shock-Quelling Powder: removes Shock and briefly raises Shock Resistance. Shock-Quelling Powder
- Pillar Stance against low tadpoles and ground lightning, Cloud Step against the tadpoles circling him. Cloud Step
Strategy
- Attack from the flanks: you avoid the tongue in front and the back kick behind.
- Light attack combos, and save the heavy attack for when he is immobilized or stunned.
- He has very little health: open with your spells to finish him fast.
Access
Village Entrance, Sandgate Village: from the shrine, drop into the ravine and follow the path to a flooded area; Xu Dog waits by a rock just before. Optional.
