The fight
A single fight, with no pause, and little health. Only his legs take damage; once he's down, his head is the weak point. He spews blood in every form: arcing projectiles, ground trails that bloom into lotuses, pools that drain your health. In his empowered form, signaled by red particles around his fleshy wings, his stomps leave pools, and a blood pool lingers until he dies.
One set: no shrine or pause during the fight, the Longevity Road shrine is before the arena.
Spells, transformation and soaks are set at a Keeper's Shrine, never mid-fight: what you bring into a fight stays until the end. One spell per category: Cloud Step and Rock Solid exclude each other, pick one before the fight.
What it inflicts
- Poison: his blood area attack inflicts Poison, and his pools drain your health as long as you stand in them. Keep Antimiasma Powder at hand.
Attacks to watch
- Opener: he always starts with a stomp followed by an area attack. Dodge this first wave before attacking.
- Blood projectiles thrown into the air that arc down, sometimes several bursts from different directions: Staff Spin deflects them.
- A blood trail along the ground, after a stomp or when he tilts the wings on his back: dodge it, or it bursts into bloody lotuses.
- Repeated jumps: on the third, all pools explode into lotuses and a wide shockwave spreads from the impact. Jump or dodge forward, or rise into Pillar Stance.
- Triple stomp: the third comes slightly delayed; wait for it before countering.
What works
- He gets knocked down easily: build 3 Focus Points, then a Pillar Stance heavy attack to floor him; then Immobilize him on the ground, followed by spirit attacks and your transformation. Immobilize
- A Pluck of Many right at the start, Immobilize, your transformation, then the Wandering Wight's attack: he has almost nothing left. A Pluck of Many, Wandering Wight
- Red Tides: the recommended transformation against him. Red Tides
- Antimiasma Powder: it removes Poison and greatly raises your Poison Resistance for a while. Antimiasma Powder
Strategy
- Lure him away from his pools to fight on clean ground, and never stand in them.
- Hit his legs; once he's down, go for the head.
- Against the blood pool of his second phase, Pillar Stance keeps you above it; otherwise, Smash Stance and Immobilize to finish him quickly. Cloud Step can also stagger him into a knockdown.
Access
Valley of Ecstasy, Longevity Road. From the shrine, cross the large field and follow the path to the right up to the passage through the cliffs: he guards the entrance to the New Thunderclap Temple, in front of a red-glowing barrier. Mandatory: you must beat him to enter the temple.

With 4 Refined Iron Sand, 8 Yaoguai Cores and 21,000 Will, it lets you craft the Chu-Bai Spear. The Temple Entrance shrine, right past the gate he guarded, lets you travel back.
