The fight

A single, short phase: he has little health and throws sand that hides his attacks.

One set: a short fight, and the Kingdom of Sahali bosses are separate fights, with a shrine between them.

Spells, transformation and soaks are set at a Keeper's Shrine, never mid-fight: what you bring into a fight stays until the end. One spell per category: Cloud Step and Rock Solid exclude each other, pick one before the fight.

What it inflicts

  • No status effect reported: charges and sand throws.

Attacks to watch

  • Shoulder or tusk charges: he leans forward or lowers his head; dodge sideways.
  • Sand throw followed by a claw swipe: dodge before the sand reaches you.
  • Spinning attack, and leaps that come down as body slams.

What works

  • Immobilize, then A Pluck of Many, then your transformation for heavy attacks. Immobilize, A Pluck of Many
  • Red Tides: fire works on him, and he staggers easily under combos and heavy attacks. Red Tides

Strategy

  • Stay mobile and strike in short bursts.
  • Follow him through the big gate after the fight: the Snout Mask is there to pick up.

Access

Rockrest Flat, in the meadow where the drunken boar sat. His quest: give him a Sobering Stone (golden pot in the village past Windrest Bridge, or 6,480 Will at the Man-in-Stone's), then a Jade Lotus at the Crouching Tiger Temple, and bring back the Arhat Gold Piece from the First Prince of the Flowing Sands: on your return, he attacks you. Optional.

What it gives

Will: 1,037

His defeat opens the Kingdom of Sahali.

In NG+

In NG+, you keep your gear, spells, transformations and spirits, and bosses are tougher. Key items don't carry over: the Vanguards' keys, the Loong Scales and quest items must be taken again.
