The fight
A single fight against two rats: the Second Prince leads with his mace while the King, perched on pillars, throws stones. If the King falls first, the Prince enrages: faster, he throws his mace like a boomerang and sends shockwaves. If the Prince falls first, the King flees and the fight ends.
One set: no shrine or pause between the two moments, and neither of them inflicts a status effect.
Spells, transformation and soaks are set at a Keeper's Shrine, never mid-fight: what you bring into a fight stays until the end. One spell per category: Cloud Step and Rock Solid exclude each other, pick one before the fight.
What it inflicts
- No status effect reported: mace and stones, physical damage.
Attacks to watch
- Thrust combo: mace lowered, a sprint, a thrust then two swings; dodge sideways for the thrust, backward for the two swings.
- Once enraged: a mace throw that comes back like a boomerang, and a delayed wave; dodge the throw, then punish.
- Spinning leap with a delayed area impact: dodge as soon as you see it coming, then punish, the window is wide.
- The King throws stones from his pillars: little damage, but they also make the Prince stagger.
What works
- Immobilize on the Prince, then light and heavy attack combos. Immobilize
- Break the pillars to bring the King down: lure the Prince into them, or hit them with a strong attack like the Wandering Wight's. Wandering Wight
Strategy
- For the spirit: take the King down first and get ready for a more aggressive Prince.
- Keep your distance during his combos, then strike back with a charged heavy attack.
- Circle the arena while your spells recharge, then Immobilize again.
Access
Village Entrance, Sandgate Village: at the back of the courtyard, a locked wooden door on the right; opening it starts the fight. Mandatory: winning opens the Valley of Despair.
What it gives
- to obtainYarn × 2
- to obtainSilk × 2

Updates
Update 1.0.13 fixed a bug that sometimes kept the Second Rat Prince spirit from dropping.
In NG+
In NG+, you keep your gear, spells, transformations and spirits, and bosses are tougher. Key items don't carry over: the Vanguards' keys, the Loong Scales and quest items must be taken again.
