Coming back later: everything you can get in Chapter 1 without beating it.
Editor's pick You can keep him for later, as long as you do not ring the 3rd bell: Twin Serpents Staff, Serpentscale pieces and the Grey Wolf Mask (big damage bonus when his health is critical). His own spirit and Cat Eye Beads are obviously not available, nor anything from the secret area.

The fight
A single phase, with no change in nature. His weak spot is his balance: the last hit of a light combo staggers him, up to 3 times in a row, then he resists it for about a minute.
One set: he hits hard, but always the same way.
Spells, transformation and soaks are set at a Keeper's Shrine, never mid-fight: what you bring into a fight stays until the end. Nothing reliable confirms that armor can be swapped mid-fight: a page only offers a per-phase variant when a shrine or a checkpoint separates the phases.
What it inflicts
- No status effect: physical damage.
Attacks to watch
- Ground pound: several shockwaves, each wider than the last; his deadliest move.
- Glowing palm thrust: very long range, massive damage.
- Stomp: its area is larger than it looks, so dodge backwards rather than sideways.
What works
- Immobilize interrupts his combos; if he is not staggered when the spell ends, he strikes right away: be ready to dodge. Immobilize
- Full light combos: the last hit staggers him, provided you have enough stamina to finish the combo.
- Red Tides: a separate health bar, almost a second life, and heavy attacks that hurt. Red Tides
Strategy
- Open with a running heavy attack, then Immobilize and light combos.
- Back away as soon as he touches the ground for the ground pound, then come back with a running heavy attack.
- Hit his back whenever he turns around.
- Circle the trees and rocks while Immobilize recharges: only his ground shockwave goes through them.
Access
Outside the Forest, Forest of Wolves: from the shrine, go past the wolves and cross the bridge; he wanders on the right, easy to spot with his big stone head. Optional.
What it gives
- to obtainCat Eye Beads
- to obtainWandering Wight
- to obtainYarn × 3
- to obtainBlood of the Iron Bull
Will: 755
His spirit can only be absorbed with the Blessed Gourd, obtained after Lingxuzi; until then, it waits for you at any shrine.

In NG+
In NG+, you keep all your gear, spells and spirits, and bosses have more health and hit harder. The new moves announced by the developers are in Challenge mode (Gauntlet of Legends), outside the scope of these pages.
